Andrew Mcpherson - Maratona 2017 It was a fantastic trip. This was my first sportive outside the UK and it really exceeded my expectations.  Everything worked perfectly and I thought the trip was great value. The bike drop off and transport to Corvara is a really great service, and takes the hassle out of flying with a bike - which I only fully appreciated when I saw the length of the queue to check in bike boxes at Venice airport.  The Posta Zirm hotel was great, very friendly service, great food and perfectly located for the Maratona.  I will be booking another trip for 2018.

Micheal Topper - Maratona 2017 - I had a fantastic time on the trip. I thought the event was super well organized and you made sure that the race number pick up process was painfree by communicating clearly what we had to bring.
The bike transfer service was very convenient and both the hotel and food were very high quality. This was the second time I have done this event with you and on both occasions I had a very good time. I would certainly look to participate in the Maratona again in the future but next year it is time for the GF Stelvio.

Bulent Reshat - Maratona 2017 - The whole experience I.e transfer, hotel, location pre-ride, organisation of the event including the coach transfer to and from registration was Magnificent. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The event was fantastico and challenging which is just what o like. Shame the weather wasn't quite on our side, but you can't have it all and it could have been worse.
Thank-you.

Roy Fox - Maratona 2017 - Thanks for a very relaxed trip to the Maratona. Everything worked like clockwork; coach transfers on time, easy check-in at the hotel, all entry information sorted, nice guided ride on the Friday and then the Maratona on Sunday, which was excellent! We stayed at Cappella Hotel in Colfosco and would highly recommend it as quality of accommodation, service and the food was superb!! Look forward to booking another trip with you.

Joe Dove - Maratona 2017 - In summary, I thought the trip was really well managed by you. The bike transfer (really important), the Maratona booking, the hotel, the bike storage area – all were excellent Of course, you helping me with my wreck of a bike was beyond the call of duty – thanks so much!

Ed Payne - Maratona 2017 -  Taking advantage of Dudley’s bespoke bike trailer service, we arrived at the hotel with our bikes waiting for us and in time to squeeze in a short evening ride. The hotel was great with a lovely spa and gym (don’t forget your trunks!) and really good food, a perfect base for exploring the Dolomites and relaxing after a ride. The whole trip was well organised and hassle free, capped off by an amazing Maratona on the Sunday. All in all fantastic value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to use European Cycle Events again as a luxurious means of gaining easy access to some of Europe’s bucket-list events.

Gavin Hughes - Maratona 2017 - This is my third Italian trip that I have embarked on organised by your company and each one has been fantastic.  If I thought the Stelvio trips were unbeatable then the Maratona dles Dolimites really raised the bar. The hotel was great, the event peerless and the transfers smooth.Your bike transfer paid off in dividends too, as 17 bikes were left on the tarmac at Marco Polo by EasyJet as they had overbooked the hold.
I'm already saving up for my next trip, it will be Italy and it will be organised by you.

Gideon Hyams - Maratona 2017 - I just wanted to say thanks for organising such a great trip. I can't think of anything I didn't like. The hotel was excellent, perfect location, great food and friendly service with the added bonus of a nice pool & spa. The group of fellow riders in our hotel were all really nice people. The Maratona itself was superb, the best sportive I've done. Excellently organised and marshalled and a wobderful course with one amazing climb following another. I've already recommended you to someone wanting to do the Maratona next year.

Neil Adams - Maratona 2017 -  A well organised trip, fantastic accomadation, all round a nice experience.

Ratan Alexander - Maratona 2017 - Just feedback for the trip from my point of view. Great transfer painless and comfortable. The hotel was superb and would suggest the whole team stay there if possible. Would be great to get some caps/T shirts with your logo and the name of the event even if you had to add a couple of pounds to the cost. Thanks for a great trip and hope I will be able to join you next year in another ride

Campbell Hall - GFNY-Monte Ventoux - Just a quick note to say I had a great time over the weekend, Peter looked after us superbly & the hotel was ideal. The event itself was very professionally organised and really enjoyable. Provence is a stunning place. Early days but if you're running a trip to the Maratona next year I'd be interested in going. Peter was telling me it's well worth doing.

David Watts  - Strade Bianche 2017 - t was a great weekend , I am sure i will be booking further trips in the future

Bill Appleby - Strade Bianche 2017 - Thanks for everything

John Sulley - Strade Bianche 2017 -  It should be us thanking you. It was very enjoyable; both the event and the  company.

Mike Topper - Strade Bianche - It was epic! Thank you very much for a super well organized trip. Looking forward to seeing you soon

Andrew Button - Maratona 2016 It was a great event.  Very memorable.  Lovely hotel. Good company. Glad weather held up,Happy customer.

Peter Reilly - Maratona 2016  Great event Dudley - thanks so much for organizing

Lewis Fellas - GF Stelvio 2016 Just wanted to say thanks for doing a good job on logistics and making sure we got to the start etc

Rory Burghes - GF Stelvio 2016  Amazing trip.  Still buzzing.  Thanks for organizing it

James Irish - GF Stelvio 2016  Many thanks for the awesome Stelvio trip it was a blast even with the suffering on the Mortirolo!

Peter Dewis (SWRC) - GF Stelvio 2016 Just a note to say thanks for organising a fantastic trip, best wishes.

David Watts - Giro 2016 - Thanks Dudley - we had a brilliant time. We will definitely think about the Maratona!

Harry Wynne- Williams - Maratona 2015 What a great trip and I would recommend others to book with you for such a well run event. The hotel we stayed at was great for what we paid, with no end of excellent food and comfortable rooms. The transfer from the airport also worked well.
My only suggestions would be to suggest a couple of London flights that meet the required transfer schedule and to offer some kind of ferry service up to the hotel at the end of the Maratona as some people didn’t have much left in the legs!

Hugo Sander + 5 Friends - Maratona 2015 - Thanks for everything Dudley, was a fantastic trip, all of the Huez team thought the organisation, hotel, food and the little extra touches were great and we would love to do more with 5034 events

Sarah Skan - Maratona 2015 - Thanks for another great trip. I can't say I actually enjoyed the ride but I did love having done it! The hotel was great - couldn't fault it.

Andrew Hibbert - Maratona 2015 -Fantastic event.  I thoroughly enjoyed the trip.  Great hotel and food.

Gavin Hughes - Stelvio 2014 and 2015 -
http://www.sportive.com/cycling-reports/519315/mountains-meat-meteorology-granfondo-stelvio-santini-2015

Ben Burns - Stelvio 2015 I thought it was really well run when we were there, nice not having to pick up bib numbers etc and having the hotel so close to the start was a real bonus! I really enjoyed the whole trip!
 - personally I would have liked to received less emails on the run up to the event, maybe one briefing document which has everything in once place that could be sent round, so if there were any updates it would be easy to check back and see (just a thought). I just found the flurry of emails hard to keep track of, particularly around logistics for box collections etc.

Sara Skan - Stelvio 2015 - I really enjoyed my trip.  Thank you so much for getting me into the ride at such short notice.  What an amazing experience - from the lovely hotel staff to the food, the beautiful scenery, the challenging climbs, the brilliant descents and the great company - I loved it all.  Well, almost - my one gripe would be the lack of air conditioning on the coaches which made me feel really sick, especially being so tired on the way down the mountains.

Andy Peck - Stelvio 2015 -Thanks for a great trip. logistics were great - buses never have enough leg room, .the hotel was brilliant, great location, staff, food, bed. all round I would recommend anyone to join you on a trip.

Richard Cater-Beasley - Stelvio 2016 Great trip,  the best event I’ve been to.  It could only be made better by giving you the option to take you bike on the flight and then have the transport at the other end to get the bikes to and from the hotel.  For many of us the trip into London especially SW London is really a pain.

Richard Smithyes - Stelvio 2015 Fantastic trip Rides were great, hotel was good, scenery was amazing. Pretty sure you'll see me again at some stage

Martin Silcock - Stelvio 2015 - Thanks for a great Stelvio trip. Hotel and organisation was terrific

Tim Molloy - Stelvio 2015 - Overall the trip was excellent and for me it was great to be able to ride out to the hills around Bormio in the days before the event. The hotel I thought was very good, particularly the food. The only improvement I would suggest to them at breakfast would be some porridge or healthy muesli – often it was granola clusters with chocolate in - and either serving coffee and refilling on request or having two machines as the coffee queue was often long. I liked their wellness centre also and the manager and his family / staff were very good and efficient. However it could be very noisy at night, particularly the night before the race with lots of shouting in the street in the middle of the night and from the bar next door.

In terms of the overall package I had a very early start on the Thursday morning  as the cheaper flights at later times had gone and so had a very long day travelling and this wasn’t something I would like to do again, e.g. I left my house at 4:20am and arrived at the hotel at 6pm! This alone would make me think twice about this particular package again, unless you offered a price without transfer for those hiring their own car or if you arranged for two transfer times  - say one at 11am and then one at 1pm.

The event itself was well managed and a proper challenge to rival the best European sportives, such as the Marmotte. A few niggles though: taking the route through an uphill village which caused a delay with cars in the way and riders having to walk. An official car was trying to climb past us all the way up the Mortirolo – which was really annoying and a bit dangerous given the width of the road - and did get past me only to get stuck on the really steep first section of the goat track. As I cycled past with very little room it was rolling backwards on its brakes! The Mortirolo feed stop was also packed and a bit dangerous with cars and motorbikes trying to pass through to the summit.

Simon Palethorpe - Stelvio 2015It was a great trip and the Stelvio Sportive was truly memorable – one of the best.  The hotel choice was first rate with terrific facilities for cyclists and most importantly, excellent food.

Pick up and drop off service for bikes in the UK would be a great additional service (I would happily pay an extra £30 for this to be done and with most people in SW London, this might be a nice).
Transfers in Italy – I would have liked an option to rent a car in a group of four or organised smaller transfer groups.  Landing at 10.45, we could have been in Bormio by 2.30pm.  I would happily have paid a little extra.
Overall I thought it very well organised and would definitely travel with 5034 again

Mark Pugh - Stelvio 2015 - 'It was my first Alpine cycle and I'm now hooked!'
'Many thanks to Dudley for a fantastic trip...already looking forward to the next one!'

Jeremy Taylor - Stelvio 2015 1. Bikes being transported by van. This saves so much hassle at the airport and in transferring to the destination.

2. The Nevada staff / owners, seemed to mostly be one family, were very friendly and helpful. They undercharged me for the bar bill despite my efforts to tell them about wine I had ordered and drunk. I forced some more money on them eventually.

Not much could be improved, however;

1. The transfer from Milan -> Bormio wasn’t slick. We were all hanging around in the airport for a long time and there wasn’t an unambiguous detailed specified location to be at to meet the coach. And the coach was late. Then we had to wait for some other people who weren’t in our hotel.

2. The hotel didn’t do the kit laundry overnight. Previously I stayed at the Alu which had freshly laundered kit ready by 7:30 am the next morning. I didn’t think the Nevada fully met the Bike Hotel Italy standard with regard to a workshop either. This isn’t something you could have anticipated since they should both be at the same standard but you may want to consider the Alu instead of the Nevada in future.

3. Many of the Nevada rooms had no curtains or shutters.

Lucy Russell - Stelvio 2015 Thank you Dudley it was amazing.  The Hotel was fantastic, I’ll recommend to fellow northerners.

The only point I would make is around the transfers, the collection – maybe  collect from both airport terminals we were looking around for ages and they were a long bus trip apart? Having a specific meeting point would have been helpful?

Thanks again, you’re obviously going to do very well, a combination of fantastic events and great pricing is going to attract lots of keen cyclists J

David Sharp - Stelvio 2015 - Dudley, a great trip and really enjoyed it – very well organised.
Two possible improvements
One bus could leave at 7pm on the way there– give people a chance to do a ½ days work?
My preference would have been to cycle more on fri & Sat – see all the climbs etc and then do a medium stelvio rather than the long one.  I think you should highlight this option to people.  I was too focused on doing the long one and it was a mistake (my mistake)

Dave White - Paris Roubaix 2014
Thanks Dudley for another great trip and for probably the toughest day I've spent on a bike! The group were all great company and it was good to be in town to watch the pro race come through on the Sunday. The only thing I would suggest for next year would be a hotel closer to the velodrome, but I understand this has already been sorted.

John Balwin Prosecco 2014 I enjoyed this year very much.  My comments are:
Better in a smaller group all staying in one hotel (but I realise this represents less income for you). Hanging about a Venice airport waiting for the Manchester crew to arrive was a bit of pain, especially as we then travelled in two separate coaches. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere was great.  A good mixture of some structure and opportunities to do your own thing
I think you should map the rides out in advance and give each rider a map of the route (not as small as the useless Prosecco ride map) so that they have a sense of where they are going/have been.  Also, if they fall off the back or want to stop or turn back they will know how to get to the hotel
Have predetermined rides, but with an additional/more challenging loop towards the end so that stronger/more keen riders can get extra miles in
Mapping in advance would mean we could make use of more of the back roads, rather than the busy main roads
For longer rides (e.g. Monte Grappa) make it clear to people when they must leave by a certain time so that they don't get caught in the dark like I did (for instance, you must leave the top of MG by 3pm, or turn back part way up if you are not going to get to the top by 2.30pm). For longer rides leave earlier in the morning,we left for the airport too early - again more hanging around.
A good event that I'd recommend to anyone.  It caters for keen racers like Keith and not so keen racers like me.

Steve Kellett - Prosecco 2014
Thanks for the trip.  My one piece of feedback would be that we spent alot of time on big and fast roads.  It would be great to get to places like the Grappa on the back roads winding through the vineyards.
bw, steve

Mark Sinfield - Stelvio 2014
Thanks Dudley, a wonderful event with tremendous organisation, 5034Events brought the perfect blend of organisation with a relaxed approached to ensure that whilst taking part in the Stelvio GranFondo race it was still a relaxing holiday.

Jacky Burnett - Stelvio 2014
Thanks for a superb trip to Gran Fondo Stelvio. Loved all 3 days. Hotel, accommodation, organised rides, organisation was great and much enjoyed. The gran Fondo itself was superb tough awesome but great and delighted that I finished the medium route.

Bulent Reshat - Stelvio 2014
I would just like to say thank-you all very much for a magnificent & well organised event.I absolutely loved the location, the terrain, hotel, food & the people were a great bunch.Im very happy with my time & that I managed to get a personal picture with Mr Santini.Like you said, the Mortirolo was a brutal climb & the Stelvio was epic.Well done Dudley, hope to see you this evening when collecting my bike.I fancy doing something bigger now with more climbing & was looking at the GF Sportful which also looks like a sick event.

Jon Segan - Stelvio 2014
A big thank you for organising such a professional trip Hotel and food were faultless and the riding awesome

Mike Ramseyer - Stelvio 2014
I just wanted to say many thanks to you for your great and totally professionally organised trip. The flights and transfers were all at sensible times. The Funiva was 100% perfect in every way and the big day was brilliant. You even managed to organise great weather! So thanks again to you and please pass on my thanks to Martin. Here’s to next time.

Nick Faint - Stelvio 2014
Just wanted to say thank you for the trip to stelvio, really enjoyed myself and cycling with 5034 events. Will be looking out for other trips you organise …. When the legs have recovered.

Phil Hughes Nove Colli 2014
"If you want crazy fast group riding, climbing till your legs scream and descents to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end....or if you just want to soak up the beautiful scenery and enjoy the italians' love of cycling as I did...then this is the perfect trip.

Absolutely loved it - got to come back next year if only to get the better of Barbotto Climb

Graham Everson Nove Colli 2014
Just wanted to say that I have over many years been lucky and able to participate in many big cycling events - such as the Etape on a number of occasions and the Maritonna as well as tough UK sportives. The Nove Colli (200k) though was by far and a way the toughest and most prestigious event I have taken part in. However for it to be enjoyable you have to have two critical ingredients - (1) put in huge amounts of training in the months leading up to the event and (2) have an 'event' organisation that knows what they are doing. The Dudley Samuels organisation nailed it -- the hotel was spot on and totally cyclist friendly with perfect support and security for your bikes - the hotel food was fantastic. The transfers to the event and back were seamless. The "registration" service was immaculate and all advice and instructions clear and to the point.

So all in all a brilliant event and experience; and to top it all, I completed the 128mls in a time better than I expected !!

Richard Clarke Nove Colli 2014
Many thanks for a superb experience. The ride was tough but awesome, company great, would recommend the package to all. A big thanks, and see you again soon

David White - Gran Fondo Prosecco 2013
I went on the Prosecco trip with 5034 and have signed up to go again next year. Having the bikes driven over made life easy and no worries about bikes not turning up at the other end. The guides knew the local area well and the hotel was very accommodating for cyclists with both bike storage and meals. Great cycling trip.

Derek Cobb - Addiscombe CC - Giro 2012 and Giro 2013
Great country to ride in: Dolomites, foothills, Prosecco country and the plains out to  Treviso/Venice  Comfortable family hotel with wonderful food and welcoming owners Chance to watch some Giro stages and get some riding in as well                 Transfers to and from the hotel taken care of , It’s Italy, what’s not to like?

Brian Chard - Giro 2012
Great trip and really fun. well organised by Dudley and the transfers and hotel were great. food was very very acceptable. this is good riding country, flats and hills. the group were good company and all of us were made welcome. we were fortunate with the weather and saw the Giro mid stage and on a sprint finish (Cav outsprinted !). we took one day off and caught the train into Venice for a day being tourists. highly recommended"

John Balwin - Prosecco 2013
2013 was my first Prosecco and I joined the group not knowing anyone.  Everybody was friendly and welcoming, particularly Dudley and his gang of helpers.  The various rides were well organised and the food, drink and hotel were great.  I’ve booked for 2014 and I’d recommend this event to others.

Gareth Wilson - Gran Fondo Stelvio 2013
Gran Fondo Stelvio was our main challenge for 2013, and it certainly ‘lived up to its name’ … the Event itself, Bormio, our hotel and all the Team at 5034 events made a it a very memorable weekend.  Thank you and looking forward to future challenges’

Herbie Blackburn - Stelvio 2013
The Gran Fondo Stelvio is a great event in what feels like an epicentre of serious cycling. The stay in Bormio is lovely, and the area is something to see in itself, with a superb set of civic events to attend marking the GF . While keeping it informal and relaxed, 5034Events ensure everything runs smoothly and choose great cycling-dedicated hotels. This means you can concentrate on the event and your final couple of days build up. Definitely come prepared though, as this event is not for the faint-hearted or under-prepared. It starts from Bormio, and the first 50 kms are cracked off at amazing speed, as you charge down the beautiful valley on closed roads. Then the climbing starts. The 5km Teglio is a nice warm up, followed by a return halfway up the valley. For those of the sternest stuff, next is the mighty Mortirolo, with some ridiculous gradients, a bit of tarmaced goast track, and a hair raising descent. On back through Bormio for the last feed station, and then the amazing Passo Stelvio awaits. 26 kms up into the sky, through alpine meadows, and, if you’re lucky, breathtaking snow fields with a dry road! Took all my strength, and it wasn’t fast, but having thought that was the Stelvio ticked off my ‘must do’ list, I have a sneaking suspicion I might be back soon – after I’ve ticked a few other items off courtesy of 5034Events!

Stuart Worthington - VC Meuden  Prosecco 2012 and 2013
Cannot recommend the events organised by 5034 enough.  We have taken part in the Gran Fondo Prosecco twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend.  These long weekends are very professionally organised, from lovely hotels, fantastic food and Dudley's local knowledge is definitely an added bonus.

Andy Knight Addiscombe - Giro 2012 and Giro 2013
Well organised, great location with lots of choice of challenging rides within spectacular countryside. Also, excellent opportunities to see the Giro at both mid stage climbs and at the finishes.Good accommodation in family run hotel with excellent food... and plenty of it!! Enjoyed the trip so much – rebooked for 2013.

William McCombe - Prosecco 2011 , 2012 , 2013
One of the best sportives on the calender! Having ridden a few of them,I can say this one not only takes place in a beautiful part of Italy, but manages to combine a wonderful course with enough challenges for everyone, added to superb organization and faultless hospitality. The two options of distance cater for both the serious and club riders abilities, however any reasonably fit cyclist would enjoy it. The hotels are run by the same friendly family and local to the course, there are also a multitude of nearby rides that will suit all levels..whether its racing up the local mountains or a gentle spin through the vine
yards. If you are looking for a fantastic end of season event look no further!
